Marcus Schossow @ Rumor

Please send your names to deepspacelife@gmail.com to avoid waiting in line and ensure your entrance.

Rumor presents…

A SPECIAL Birthday celebration for mr. Mark Marek and mr. Srikar Dorai. This is definitely a party u not gonna want to miss.

MARCUS SCHOSSOW:

Schossow is a very rare individual. He shines at whatever he throws his hand to, and whether that’s performing to thousands or producing for the masses he’s on a mission to reinvent dance music. He went off to a flying start being voted as the number #1 most popular nordic DJ 2008, after only two years of making music.

This reinvention started with his smash 2007 track Mr White, whereby fusing futuristic techno, with filthy house and a subtle smattering of trance; his sound automatically became appealing to a whole host of DJ’s and music fans alike. Marcus is the leading head of the nu-trance generation, A new elite set of young DJ’s and producers with dance floors around the world clamoring for his infectious presence and prodigious mixing.

Progresia and Tone Diary, his own projects, are establishing the “Schossow Sound” while his work with fellow producer Thomas Sagstad has seen Tiesto, Axwell and Steve Lawler snapping up tracks like Hypnotizer and Crepusculo. World-renowned Dutch outfit Spinnin have given Schossow their full backing, making him their youngest signing to date. At only 25, Schossow is a serious force to be reckoned with. Further support comes from the A list including Pete Tong, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Steve Angello, John Digweed and Ferry Corsten, underlining Marcus’ increasing influence in the world of dance.

And it’s not just his ability as a producer that screams “watch this person”. Schossow is in demand around the world! America, Europe, the Far East and beyond are all calling out for gaps in his diary. In the short time Marcus has been around, he’s already clocked up some of the biggest gigs in the calendar: Trance Energy, Dance Valley, Godskitchen, Monster Massive, Together As One, Ministry Of Sound, Sunrise Festival, Escape Into the Park, Zurich’s Street Parade (Playing for 1,3 Million people) and the Colours Festival are just some!

With Tone Diary, Marcus’ acclaimed radio show which airs on Area (Sirius/XM); the sound of Schossow travels even further. Setting the airwaves ablaze, he reaches those not lucky enough to have caught him live yet and reminds those who have of why they’ll have to check him out again!

Yet with all this, it’s so easy to forget that Marcus Schossow is just 25 years old. A young man who is only just starting out at what looks set to be a very prosperous musical career. More beckons as 2011 propels Marcus Schossow further cementing him into the international electronic landscape. Stay tuned…..

Starkillers @ Rumor

Please send your names to deepspacelife@gmail.com to avoid waiting in line and ensure your entrance.

Rumor presents…Srarrkillers

Srarrkillers (dj & producer):

As the USA’s dance music scene continues to come of age on a widespread scale and different styles proliferate and evolve, new talents are coming thick and fast. Only a few have the staying power to go the distance, however.

Formerly known as Nick Terranova, Las Vegas talent Starkillers has been cutting a swathe through the bolshier end of the global house music scene over the last few years with his tough-edged, eclectic sound. Blending big hooks and riffs, soaring vocals, thumping beats and mind-bending effects trickery, his sound is the perfect blend of high-octane, fierce energy and accessible appeal. It’s truly at home amidst the contemporary sound of cutting-edge dance music.

“I’m A.D.D” he explains of the hyperactive nature of his music. “I know people always say that, but I really am. I really try not to sound like anyone else or copy anyone. What’s the point in being in this biz if all your gonna do is try and sound like someone else? I do what I think is cool and don’t really care what people think. You’re either a fan or you’re not.”

It’s not about subtlety or tradition; instead its a question of pushing technology and sound to their limits, and creating in-your-face tracks with plenty of charisma and attitude. There’s nothing mundane going on here. Pitch bending leads, rugged bass, mind-warping FX, huge builds and drops; everything in a Starkillers track is designed for maximum impact on the dancefloor, and his potent blend of electro house groove and sharp trance-laced breakdowns has seen his records signed to huge labels including Doorn, Ultra and Spinnin.

“I really just try to make my sound as crazy as I can with out being too far left that people don’t get it” he says. “I try not to pigeonhole myself into one genre so I can change easily and so that it doesn’t come as a shock to my fans when I evolve.” It’s that versatility and open-mindedness that should see him continue to flourish and succeed for years to come, and that will ensure he outlasts less-imaginative peers.

He’s succeeded without the hyperbole that surrounds so many other artists, his popularity speaking for itself with two of Beatport’s Top 25 biggest-sellers of 2009 (including a Number 1 during the same year with his remix of Armand Van Helden’s classic The Funk Phenomenon), and more sales smashes over the last two years. Then there’s his Essential New Tune accolade from Pete Tong and an IDMA Award nomination for his anthem Discoteka, and acclaimed remixes for some of the biggest names in the world – including Robbie Rivera, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Jerome Isma-Ae and iiO. More recently his track with the stunning Nadia Ali and 303lovers’ Alex Kenji, Pressure, has received huge support from DJs across the scene and smashed Beatport’s sales charts once again.

He’s a producer with integrity though, so don’t expect to see him producing the latest cheesy chart smash for the newest flash-in-the-pan R&B singer any time soon. If his records cross over, then great; but it’s not something he’s actively trying for. “I really don’t try to make commercial records. If I work with vocals, I try to do what sounds cool. If it come a little more commercial then alright, if it’s darker then cool – but I don’t stress about it. Obviously being more commercial can get you further, but I definitely don’t forget where I come from…the underground.”
